VEST NEWS RELEASE

Victims Empowerment Support Team [VEST] Becomes Newest Solano Family Justice Center On Site Partner

Office will be located at the SFJC at 604 Empire Street in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CA, October 1, 2021 – VEST, the Victims Empowerment Support Team, announces that it has officially been accepted as an onsite partner agency of the Solano Family Justice Center. With this acceptance, VEST plans to begin operations in the October 2021 at the SFJC located at 604 Empire Street, Fairfield, CA, 94533. VEST is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Solano County. It was founded due to the recognition that there were gaps of the services needed to address the unique needs of these victims.

This gap in services became particularly evident during the current COVID-19 pandemic when domestic violence cases increased over 200% in Solano County. It is believed that loss of jobs and closure of schools, and other usual safe havens, coupled with the heightened stress created by “shelter-in-place” and other COVID protocols were major contributors to this trend. Because of this, VEST was formed in 2021 to assist victims in need and to strengthen family units through empowerment and support services. The agency’s approach is influenced by the recognition that violence is a social issue that affect more than the individuals who are seeking services. The impact of these types of violence is felt community and generational-wide.

“Change happens when people are given the opportunities and guidance they need in order to draw upon their own strengths,” said Tanya Brownrigg, VEST Executive Director. “VEST is committed to providing an environment of compassion and support to help individuals and families overcome obstacles and tap into their inner resources to move forward and thrive,” Brownrigg added.

The organization encourages the public to visit their website at vestsolano.org to learn more about the services VEST provides and to help support their mission by donating to their cause at https://vestsolano.org/online-donation/.
