The CARE Model identifies essential qualities that supportive individuals and communities must embody to assist survivors in navigating emotional challenges. This framework was created to guide survivors in building a recovery-focused support system. The Victims Empowerment Support Team believes passionately in the CARE Model. It is essential to each Survivor’s recovery that they surround themselves with individuals that believe in and CARE about their recovery. A Survivor’s support circle should include people with characteristics of the CARE MODEL.

☑️ Compassionate. People who can help you understand and validate your feelings and LISTEN.

☑️ Accessible. Accessible. People who let you know that you are not alone and understand your situation.

☑️ Resourceful. People that will help you find resources to help.

☑️ Empathetic. People who feel and understand your emotional history.
